Diego Simeone may NOT be Chelsea's Salvation

Seems now that everyone is now linked to the Chelsea's manager job. With a team that is flirting with relegation of Cheslea's stature, the sack of whoever is in charge has to be on the cards. But I am not too sure, as good as Simeone is, would be the right man for the job.

Sometimes, teams need to change their whole setup and psychology in order to embrace the current crop of
players that they have, representing the future generation. At a time, when Terry, Ivanovic, Lampard and co. were at their peak and younger, the defensive style of Mourinho worked well. The players could perfectly execute this system because their bodies were fit enough to do so, without issue. That cannot always be the case because unless there is a new anti-ageing pill that I don't know about, everyone gets old, and everyone eventually wanes. It's life, it's biology.

Simeone and Mourinho are both very similar coaches. They believe in physicality, and having a robust and defensive approach. So by sacking Mourinho and bringing in Simeone, how will things change at Chelsea? I would have thought that the very point of bringing in a new manager is in order to offer something completely different to the current one you have, whose methods do not seem to be working with the players?

I can pretty much guarantee that Simeone would not take the Chelsea job if it was offered to him. Atletico is a home to him. He enjoys it there, he has a good working relationship with his superiors and he's building a dynasty with the brave attempt of trying to compete with the Goliaths of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Heading to Chelsea and having to start almost from scratch to take Chelsea back to the top is not something that would be of much interest to him.
