Man City NEED David Silva Like a Hungry Belly Needs a Sandwich

Man City actually played pretty well against Juventus. They were not opened up defensively, gave Juve some problems, moved the ball around well and made for a very entertaining team that neither side actually dominated. But whereas Juventus had all their key players in the defensive and attacking areas, Man City were missing one their most important danger-men.

David Silva.

Without David Silva, Man City are just not the same attacking threat. He is vital to how they approach the attack, because of where he sits in the whole and his incredible ability on the ball. A lot of chances that are created and goals scored primarily come from the play that David Silva orchestrates in that area. Especially how he combines with Yaya Toure who comes in from midfield, is what have made Man City tick and been their attacking schtick.

Seeing them go up against Juventus, you could see that they were missing him badly. You saw De Bruyne and Sterling try and work the wing and cut inside, but without a permanent threat in that hole, they were not able to really thread balls into Aguero, and hard to rely and longer balls for him to get onto. On the other hand, Juve's equivalent was Marchisio who was playing and his presence really helped Juventus to be a greater threat. And Silva is definitely much better in that position and seeing as this match was pretty open, especially towards the end, David would have made a great difference for City.

As far as City's chances in the Champions League. As talented as they are, the very fact that they were beaten twice by Juventus who aren't favorites shows they are still some way from doing anything of relevance in this competition. But if they want to reach the quarters or beyond, then they need David Silva. He is beyond crucial to them finding goals and getting the best out of one of the best finishers around, Aguero. Without Silva, City should not even bother turning up and should just hand in their resignation. There is no one else in their entire squad that does what he can. Nasri may be able to play in that position, but he is very far off from Silva's quality.

It may sound wrong or illegal, but if City end up coming second and having to face Barcelona or Bayern in that next round, or even Atletico, then using drugs, doping or some form of body-enhancement to speed up Silva's recovery will be encouraged by myself. As long as they don't get caught, one must do all they can to win, and to do that you need all your best players on the pitch.
