These "Professionals" of Real Madrid Have Turned on Benitez

From being unbeaten and seeing Madrid as one of the challengers for the Champions League, all the way to getting pimped for ten goals in three games and almost coughing up a four goal lead against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Things have changed at Madrid. It's clear that these so-called professionals are not happy with Benitez and are still sulking because of how their second father, Ancelotti, was tossed aside like that half-eaten M&M. Sadly, Benitez is bearing the brunt of this, and he could be gone a lot sooner than expected if this turns into the Chelsea situation that My Boy has been having to deal with since August.

Granted, Real Madrid's football have not been of the standard set by Ancelotti last season. Last season, Ancelotti made Madrid one of the most exciting teams to watch, something that was not said about this team since the days of Zidane, Figo and Ronaldo. They went on that long unbeaten run and only just lost out in getting to the Champions League final. But this was expected. Benitez isn't Ancelotti, and the players should have known that. I'm sorry, but I think these dudes are paid quite enough each week to kick a ball around a patch of grass. It shouldn't matter if both Ren and Stimpy have been hired as the coach. They should buckle down and give 110%.

When you hear rumors of players intentionally playing badly in order to get a coach sacked or make a point to the president, at first you laugh at how ridiculous such a claim is. Then you look again at the garbage displays of the team, and it begins to hold weight. The way in which players look to be walking around, not asserting themselves or really doing their all to get something in the game is good enough evidence of "professionals" being unprofessional.

I don't know what the future hold for Rafa and Madrid. The La Liga looks to be lost as I see a seismic shift in the direction of Barcelona. As for the Champions League, even beyond Bayern and the Catalans; Juventus and Atletico just look better equipped as a team than Madrid do and would bet on them rather than the cats from the Bernabeu. But this is football, and you could look back at this article in May with Madrid at the top of La Liga and about to play a Champions League final and laugh while throwing beer at some cheap soap opera on your TV screen.
