Pato to Chelsea Looks To Be On. But...WHY?!

Who sanctioned this? Who okayed this loan move? Why is Pato even on Chelsea's radar? Who honestly thinks this is what Chelsea need right now?

I'm going to address this fairly rather than go by emotion and lambast whoever brought Pato up as a viable transfer option. I've given my thoughts previously on Pato on how I feel his peak has gone and he has nothing to offer at the highest level, but no harm in looking at the other side of the coin.

So let's look at the positives of this. Costa is pretty much the only striker that Chelsea have. He has finally found his feet, not relied on just falling down and is playing like how a striker should. Putting the fear into central defenders. When he goes down injured you have Remy. Since his move from Newcastle, he's been a flop for Chelsea. A few goals here and there, but not good at all. When he's had to come on or take the place of Costa, he's looked slow, lethargic and out of touch with his teammates.

Chelsea need a striker, and Pato may be that surprise package. Playing in Brazil for these past years, we don't know how well he will do in the quicker and tougher Premiership. But it's a gamble that may pay off. He has played for AC Milan, and could use some of that experience to good effect. He's also from the same land as Willian, Oscar and Costa so language won't be a problem and an unspoken understanding on the pitch can be forged.

It's a gamble.

That is what Chelsea must be real with. This isn't a proven striker in the top four leagues who everyone is vying to get. It's a wild card. In my humble opinion which I feel is right. he doesn't have it. Maybe he'll be better than the useless Remy, but I wouldn't put money on it. When you think of how fast the Premiership is and how quickly defenders get on you, I'm not sure Pato is ready or equipped for that. Playing in Brazil where Neymar made defenses look like fools won't help either.

Fine, take the gamble. Pato seems to think he's got something in him and I am sure the scouts at Chelsea have seen something as well as Hiddink, to be confident that he will be a success and is the player they need to get even higher up the table.
