Willian is the KEY for Chelsea if they are to Beat PSG

If Chelsea are to beat PSG then it will have to come through Willian, their best attacking player who has had a great personal season even though the team haven't been up to his standard throughout. His command of the flank area and how well he's played there will make him a very important piece that can cause some damage to PSG.

Forget about the other wing, whenever Chelsea attack it's more often than not through Willian's wing, and he's shown that he can dribble, cross and is intelligent and perceptive enough to make the right pass. In this kind of game where it's going to be very close, and congested in the middle, Chelsea will need to spread that ball out wide to find some space and Willian will be the one they will look to for creating chances.

It's shown how far Willian has come since looking very awkard as a winger when Mourinho started playing him there. He was actually an attacking midfielder for Shakhtar Donetsk, and you could see how he struggled with figuring out how to play wing position. He wasn't heading into the byline, and found it hard to manoeuvre himself to produce a cross, things that come natural to born wingers.

But he worked hard, he improved and now he's easily one of the best wingers in the world. So it's an amazing achievement for someone who is playing in a secondary position. And being Chelsea's most dangerous attacker, he will need to bring his best game. That means finding an understanding with Costa, and being able to deliver that perfect ball and hope that his fellow countryman (don't care what country he says he plays for), manages to finish off the cross.

PSG will have to be weary. Whether it's Maxwell or Van Der Wiel that's marking him, they will have to really be smart about marking him. Willian is no Jesus Navas who just runs into a tight spot and can't figure out what to do. Willian is a very smart footballer, and knows how to get past defenders by being very careful in his movement and watching theirs. So it will be interesting to see whether he wins that personal battle on the flank. HH
