What an absolute disgrace to the sport of football. How the heck does a professional team playing in the top league of the country, lose by eight goals...in their own stadium?
My issues with La Liga has again reared its ugly head. The inexplicable gap between the top and lower teams showed itself with this laughable scoreline. It keeps happening time and time again and it's because of the frequence of these results that people looking on the outside in on the La Liga can take the league as a whole seriously.
I quit watching after the Cannibal got the second goal and that wasn't before Deportivo had totally botched up two great chances. One of them was simply a matter of simply controlling the ball and putting it past Bravo from a yard or two. Then the other was a comical sequence of Deportivo players for some reason, not wanting to put the ball into the net, aiming for anything but the actual target that credits you with a goal.
I didn't expect Deportivo to beat Barcelona, and it was most likely they were going to fall against a team that is much better than them. However, there is a big difference between losing by three goals, and getting totally and utterly trounced by eight. I could care less how good Barcelona are and who they have in attack. You just can't concede eight goals in front of your own fans who might as well have used their money on a nice meal in a restaurant rather than waste it on seeing their team get punctured.
That's why as punishment, and this needs to get implemented sooner rather than later, I propose that Deportivo get banned from all football for at least a month or so due to crimes against professional football. Until they learn how to defend, keep the ball, make smart passes and actually finish; they should not be allowed to take to the field again.
