Hummels Would be Wise to Stay With Dortmund and Tuchel

I can't believe that this is even a rumor or maybe even something that could be plausible. Why oh why would Hummels want to even entertain the possibility of leaving perhaps the most entertaining team to watch over the last twelve months? What would be the point of going to Bayern when he can remain and be a legend with Dortmund?

The allure is obvious. Ancelotti will be coming in, they will still have the best squad in Germany and it is very likely they will win the Bundesliga and will be favorites for the Champion League. That kind of deal is not something he can get with Dortmund. They just don't have the kind of players that Bayern have and Tuchel is starting something and is still in the building stage.

Why though are the "promise" of trophies and medals such a big thing?

To be honest, Dortmund are three players away from winning trophies and really competing with Bayern. But let's say they don't get these three players, Hummels has already won the most coveted and revered medal in all of football and he's captain of one of the best supported clubs in the world, and they are a very good team who can match up to anybody. I just don't see why you would want to leave such a good deal to join what is essentially a sleepwalk to guaranteed domestic titles and medals.

Tuchel will need to do all he can to keep Mats, because he's a very special central defender who is incredible when the ball is at his feet. If Dortmund are to reach the heights that Klopp took them to, Hummels is a kind of player that must remain at the core of the team. You don't sell him because there really isn't any other defender like him out there.

Mats if you are listening, think long and hard before you make a decision. Take the long term look and ask yourself how you will want to be remembered once those boots are hung up. The Bayern chance is very tempting and it would guarantee you more medals, especially the Champions League one that you crave so badly, but is all that worth not being loyal to what is a really great club and organisation?
