Is Xhaka the Answer that Arsenal Need? Doubt it
So there is now this big huge deal that Arsenal have spent the cash on their "massive" signing. His name is Xhaka, a Swiss midfielder who is apparently the player that should signal Arsenal's extent for next season.
Now I don't want to be rude, but I have never heard of this player, and even if I do know how well Monchengladbach played last season, this was not the dude who I had in my mind as their superstar. Is he really as good as Rafael?
I've just found out that he has now become Arsenal's third highest transfer signing which means that Wenger believes he is just as important as Ozil and Sanchez who were both huge signatures. There is a big difference with those two players and our dear friend Xhaka. Those two are recognised in the world as a big-time players. Say what you will about the Zillage, but he is a German international starter in a team who are the world champions.
Need we need to say anything to justify the incredible talent of the Chilean?
I just don't get what there is to be hyped about. This is yet another attacking player, but this is not a strong and tough defensive enforcer or a cold-blooded box finisher. both pieces that Arsenal are badly missing. So I don't get what there is to have excitement with concerning another player who is just going to add to what Arsenal already have.
Need I remind the good folks over at Arsenal that Wenger is still the manager? He is the one that will give Xhaka the instructions of how to play and so forth. So there is only so much he can do as one player. This isn't Messi, Neymar or Robben.
It's...Xhaka.
But he is a good player and he will help to improve Arsenal. That is for sure. I just think Arsenal fans need to look at the bigger picture and instead of buying the same kinds of players, they should demand a better brand of striker than Giroud and a defensive-midfielder who can get down and dirty.
