Sevilla Made a Mockery of the Europa League...but are WORTHY Winners

Three years in a row, this compeition has had the same winner. Just think about that for a moment. And think about all the teams that compete in this competition. Then ask yourself how on earth did all those professional football teams allow the same freaking team to lift up the trophy on three consecutive occassions?

I am still strongly considering writing to UEFA to shut down this competition, and the reason why I am on the fence about it is because of seeing how Sevilla performed. Before watching the final though, I had watched Sevilla play a few times in La Liga and bits in the Europa League, so I knew how good they were. But their performance in the second batch of forty-five minutes is how you win a final.

Liverpool were outclassed. Sevilla already showed they were the better team in the first half, but in the second they pimped Liverpool. It was a footballing lesson that Liverpool can learn a lot from. Everything from the passing, movement, ability on the ball, chance-creation, fluidity was on a high level. Just the second goal was the perfect example of a team simply being better than the other.

But I am wrestling with how they had done it. It's an amazing achievement and the slick-haired Emery who looks like a sleazy 80's villain is the man behind it all. This isn't a defensive team who just pop with a G, sit back and bore us to three deaths on their way to a win. Sevilla have played great football in this Europa League in all the three years they have won it. So it's even more insulting that they have achieved this in such overwhelming style.

I came to a conclusion though about two-thirds through watching the match. Sevilla are too good for the teams in this Europa, but they just not quite good enough for the Champions League teams. The big difference are those difference-makers that the Champions League has like Robben, Griezmann, Bale which you don't get in the Europa. Sevilla are a really good team with some nice players like Mariano, Gameiro and Banega but they don't have a world-class superstar player, which is paramount for the Champions League.

Well done to Sevilla and if they pop up back again in this competition next year, if I am unsuccessful with getting it suspended, then all I ask of the other teams is to not let them do this four years in a row. Then it would be even more than an insult. HH
