Getting Mahrez and Vardy Won't Make Arsenal Title Favorites
Everyone focuses on the talent and those that lace up the boots and take to the pitch. But nobody ever looks to the dude in a suit, or a tracksuit that can't be zipped up who is the one that calls all the shots. It's him who peole should really be concerned about.
Suddenly, Arsenal fans were leaping up with joy just like they did when Ozil and Sanchez were signed, when the rumor broke of Vardy and Mahrez were to be signed. The one-two Leicester punch that gave them the Premiership title. This would finally give Arsenal what they have craved so much since the Henry and Vieira days.
And that is just so short-sighted.
People forget that Vardy and Mahrez played under Ranieri. They didn't just do it all on their own. Both players were part of a system that Ranieri built which gave them the platform to flourish, under strict instructions from the Italian. That is why they were the two standout players this season and helped Leicester to glory.
Wenger is not Ranieri. I will even go so far as to say Ranieri is a better manager and tactician. So if Vardy and Mahrez were to come to Arsenal, they would be playing in a different system under a different set of rules. So the kind of productivity that you saw them yield at Leicester would not be the same if they were for Arsenal. Different systems, different outcomes.
Also, we're not talking about Iniesta and Messi here who would pretty much be an almost sure bet to take Arsenal to glory. Those two would rise above whatever tactics Wenger puts out, to provide the G's and assists to win games. Vardy and Mahrez are not on their level.
So....just keep things in perspective is all I ask. HH
