Gundogan is a HUGE Purchase for Man City...if he Stays Fit
Question:
What use is a player if he never...plays?
Gundogan is a great footballer and I put him as the top three in the world for his position. So this is not to throw any shade towards him, it's just that if he gets a lot of injuries. And I have never heard of a player, through the powers of osmosis, who was able to effect the game from the hospital table.
Let's assume that he is injury-free and as fit as three fiddles. This is an amazing signing for Man City. Instantly it improves their midfield and without a shadow of a doubt, Gundogan will be the most naturally gifted midfidelder in the Premiership.
Keep in mind the kind of football that Pep likes to play. He wants his players to keep possession of the football and is big on moving it around and controlling the pace of the game. Gundogan is perfect for that. His passing range is excellent, amazing under pressure and knows how to execute those critical through-balls.
Still my fear lingers. His injury troubles has kept him from yet competing at an international tournament for City. It's a serious problem for him and if he keeps getting these injuries, then buying him would have been a waste of time. If I was Pep, ten times out of ten if the offer is on the table I would purchase Gundogan all day long and take the risk.
But City fans have to acknowledge that there IS a risk involved up in this piece. HH
