Draxler Made Bad Move Going to PSG

You must think I am smoking grass or sniffing glue by saying a young player going to one of the biggest clubs in the world is a bad move.

Draxler is an amazing talent and he is moving to one of the most talented squads in the world. So surely, it's one plus one equals two. This should be a step up for Draxler, and perhaps the chance to prove himself on a far bigger platform than he would ever be allowed with the current Wolfsburg.

But it's not just about moving to the biggest clubs. It's the kind of team that you go to, the environment and the system. As a player, you have to see whether a particular club meshes well with your character, personality and way of playing.

PSG are a club that was very expensively assembled with the intention of winning today, not tomorrow. So when moving to a club such as PSG, your best chance of succeeding is if you are an older, established and more experienced player. Hence why Lavezzi, Ibrahimovic and Cavani moving there have worked.

Whereas you look at Pastore and Lucas, it's been indifferent. Sometimes they have done really well and shown what amazing talents they are, then other times they've been void and not done anything of note in a game. Hence why we don't hear them talked about that much anymore.

Draxler has amazing ability, and he showed that against Slovakia at the Euros. But is he more talented than Lucas or Pastore?

Also, at twenty-three years old, and only ever featuring in one major international tournament, it's not enough experience to be able to have confidence that he will hit the ground running at PSG, who have not yet figure it out under Emery.

Whatever the case, he's going to be a great addition for PSG, and will offer a variation on the wing to Di Maria, and will improve their attack. But in the long term, how much can he improve playing in Ligue 1 which isn't of the same standard as the Bundesliga?

Arsenal was on the table, and although they are smaller club in comparison to PSG and are allergic to winning major trophies, that would have been the perfect environment and system to thrive under for Draxler, and without a doubt in about two years you would see a much better player who can be called world-class for his position.

The only hope I would have is Emery changes the system to play much faster, and more direct to suit Draxler, and allow him the freedom to express himself, by taking on players and attempting chances of his own. Then you could see some improvement of him playing alongside some of the most imaginative and technically gifted midfielders in the world.
