It's Time for Ozil to MAN UP and STAND UP
No more games anymore. For too long, Ozil has hidden behind the coat of Wenger and been under his protection. But sorry, THIS IS ARSENAL'S PRIZED ASSET. This was, at least, SUPPOSED to be the golden boy of the new era for German football. For the past few matches, Ozil has been happy to just drift by without having to react to Arsenal getting beatdown by teams like....Southampton. Tonight, Ozil must seize his chance to finally answer his critics and RESPOND with a big time game.
We all know what the Turkish-German can do. His amazing eye for the pass, control, ability to find players in difficult positions. These things are his trademark. But it's the psychological aspect that Ozil has to figure out. It's just not good enough to be a PART of the team....he has to BE THE TEAM. He must demand the ball, and have more touches. There needs to a sense of urgency when he has the ball, and ability to dictate what is happening in the match.
Sometimes, he relies too much on players, looking for that one-two, rather than running with the ball and looking for that harder, but more piercing ball that cuts away the other unnecessary crap.
I want more from this dude. No more hiding and just giving a few passes here and there. There needs to be a change of attitude and this comes from both HIM and Wenger. Thank you Arsene for saying you expect more goals from Ozil. How about you expect him to try and take a bit more responsibility for that midfield? Fine, he can't lead as that isn't in his character but AT LEAST, show up when your team needs you, not only when things are going well. Try and show some fight when the going gets tough, as that is what make the greats like Pirlo so amazing. When things get really down, Pirlo knows how to REACT. Mesut, learn from the best, and do what your talent DEMANDS of you.
