Relax people. I don't get why there is so much coverage for this transfer. It IS a good buy for Liverpool who had a shameful decline from two seasons ago, but people are missing the giant eagle in the room...Brendan Jeremiah Rodgers.
After assessing Firmino at the Copa, I can say he is pretty good. Skillful, smart, good touch but not what I would call an elite player or someone with the potential to be a Dinho. Hell naw. But for Liverpool and the way that they play, this purchase does make a lot more sense than Lambert and Balotelli. As Firmino shows under Dunga's tactics, he can play well in the counter and understands how to utilise the position.
However, and yes there is a but. Rodgers is not exactly the best coach in the world. Buying another offensive player is not what will help Liverpool. Yes they do need one, but the biggest issue is at the back. Rodgers does not have a clue as to how to coach defense, so really, his priority should be to go out and hunt a leader in the center at the backline to help reduce the amount of G's that his teams like to keep on conceding.
Firmino and Coutinho is a good thing to have, as it's always useufl to have two good players from the same country, to spark up that sixth sense combination. So I expect Liverpool to improve in attack, but they could score three and concede five and it would be back at square one again for Liverpool. They have to fix the whole entire pie if they even going to dream about being in that top four which looks even harder and harder to reach.
