Giroud Must Accept he is ROBIN to Benzema's BATMAN for France

Damn. That was not very pretty to watch.

Giroud endured probably the worst atmosphere he's ever received in his football career, on a personal level. Not only did he put forth one of his worst performances, which is amazing in itself, but his own people got so frustrated that they turned on him. Once your crowd start to boo you, perhaps it's time to either call it a night or roll your sleeves up and shut them up by making moves. Unfortunately, it just wasn't the night for Giroud to be making any moves whatsoever. It was Olivier Jeremiah...AT HIS WORST!

I've said many times that the highest quality glue would not be able to stick to Giroud. Seeing him for Arsenal and how passes just never seem to connect to him, that's how I came up with the deduction. I believe I was proven right once again in France's match against Serbia. The amount of times balls were played to Giroud and he either miscontrolled, bounced off him, or his one-two went to a Serbian jersey or to no-one was far too often. These are frailties to his game that Arsenal fans know very well, but this was on a whole other level because nothing at all was happening for him on the night. He should have been taken off a lot earlier by Deschamps as it was painful to just watch the jeers from the crowd and his performance sinking lower and lower.

Giroud has his uses. If you look at his goal record in Ligue 1 and the Premiership, it's good. He knows how to score and is a useful striker to have. He just can't be the main man. If France were to go into the Euros with Benzema injured and Giroud as their starter, then I really cannot see them winning the trophy. Giroud is Robin. He's a very good boy wonder and a great helping hand, but he's no Batman. The Dark Knight for France is Benzema and that is the man that they have to hope can be fit and ready next summer. For France, he's a different player and just an all-round better footballer than Giroud. I'm sure that Olivier will agree that he has to take the backseat while Karim attempts to lead France to glory on their home soil. I think Deschamps should think about using them as a striker partnership. If Benzema can play just behind Giroud, then he can receive the ball and start playing one-twos off Giroud who is very good at linking up plays. I think that could be a partnership that no other team would have next summer.

There is no changing Giroud and his football, he is what he is. Don't expect him to dribble, don't give him the ball to his feet, and don't think he can score a crucial goal for you when the going gets tough. If you can put in a good cross for him, get quality into the box and use him as a target-man; then you will be justly rewarded as that is where his game is strongest. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Players like Ronaldo who tore it up for Inter, Barcelona and Brazil just didn't have any. But he was a very rare case....very rare.
