FINALLY! Rudi Garcia is SACKED as Roma Manager

At last! He's gone!

I do not know how many videos, articles or blogs I have put out lamenting and harping on about the need for Roma to show Garcia the one-way exit out of Rome. On and on I have gone as I saw Roma descend into obscurity. But nobody listened and the Roma board kept giving Garcia chances. Their faith in him can't be commended, it was unrealistic for a club who are looking to be kings of Italy and make a splash in the Champions League.

Garcia cannot complain at all. If he was true to himself, he should have seen this coming and really the sack was long overdue. Roma were not going forward and their tepid displays brought dismay to the fans. At first, the Roma faithful saw it as a blip after that great winning run they had, but then the blip turned into an extended bore-fest. Think of it as tiki-taka, only worse and more naive.

Nightmare.

The problem with Garcia which is what I've always said was his inability to evolve and change. Great managers are able to tweak and adapt in order to win matches. It's not about staying loyal to a philosophy just for the sake of it, it's all about doing what needs to be done in order to bring home the three points. Unfortunately Garcia didn't see it that way. Even as his team were playing out draws, not doing enough to create chances, and always playing in the same manner; he did not change. That stubborn nature, even in the face of you team not progressing is what irked the fans.

Garcia had two all-time lows for Roma, and that came in the hands Bayern and Barcelona who proceeded to offer a violent public lubrication of their souls. The first being in front of their own fans as Bayern ran them off the pitch, and against Barcelona who made a mockery of their defense and could have put in ten if they were so inclined. These two results put Garcia on the map, and made him a prime target for being a global clown.

With Rudi finally gone, where now for Roma you say?

It's about totally reimagining the team. Just like Hiddink is doing with Chelsea, Roma have to go in a completely different direction. It won't be easy because Garcia has focused so much on particular kind of midfielders that play his brand of football that even if it is Spaletti, he won't be able to totally stamp his idelogy on the team. But they can still move in a different direction, play with more direct intent, less passes and perhaps have better defensive discipline.

For now, Roma fans can rejoice and be glad they won't have to be bored out of their minds watching their team.
