Is Ozil really the answer to all of Arsenal's Problems? NO
Yes, Wenger finally dug into his pocket and pulled out the big wad of cash for the big signing that Arsenal needed. He should be applauded for it, and there is a lot of hype around it....but we must look past that and investigate the real truth and not forget the issues that the Arsenal still have.
Ozil, in my opinion, is one of the smartest footballers in the world. He is always two steps ahead, and can play in such lackadaisical manner because of this. What he will bring to Arsenal is a higher creativity ratio and more inventiveness in midfield. However, as the loss of Vieira has shown, there are other equally as important matters in midfield that need addressing.
Yes, Flamini is a bulldog thug that adds some grit, but he may be past it. Does he still have that stamina and hunger? That is the real question that remains to be seen. I just still don't see that leader and commander in midfield that Arsenal need. Ozil is not going to track back and tackle, or fire the team up or get down and dirty.
Then there is the attack. NO, NO, NO and NO, Giroud is not good enough to rest your hopes on. That is why Wenger tried hard to get Ba and Mourinho rejected it. Arsenal need that reliable goal-getter. They had it with Wright, Anelka, Henry....but ever since those three, they have not had THAT MAN. Tell me, what use is a great creative player if there is no striker to finish off his expert through balls?
And there you have it. Ozil will raise Arsenal's game and I think it is a great move for him, as he can focus on the football rather than all the politics at Madrid. But Arsenal fans must not be foolish in thinking this will lead them to a trophy. If they can get a proven striker in January? Now we're talking....
