Even in Defeat for Liverpool against City, Rodgers Proved He is One of the Best Coaches in the Premiership
THIS is what I call a coach. You hear me? This man right here. I get that he has the best player in the league, but in the match against City, were the Cannibal was clamped right down and almost marked out of the game....RODGERS SHOWED HIS COACHING PROWESS. Has a team apart from Bayern been so tactically good at the Etihad?
Rodgers had a super tough task going into the cauldron in Manchester. EVERY TEAM IN THE PREMIERSHIP HAD BEEN PIMP-SMACKED BY AT LEAST A TWO GOAL MARGIN, and most assumed the same would happen to Liverpool.
Somehow Rodgers got his team playing football and for the first time in the Premiership, Manchester City looked almost mortal. Liverpool showed them no respect and took them head-on. The reason for that was how Rodgers made Liverpool use the ball effectively. They may not have kept possession like Bayern did, but just like Bayern, they found holes in the City defence and with some very nice build-up play, they really exploited City. The key was Rodgers giving Suarez a free role and making Coutinho and Sterling more prominent. It was the use of Sterling that was so crucial in the runs that he made and how he was on the same wavelength as Suarez. This was all about expert coaching and Rodgers getting the very BEST out of his players. Unlike Arsenal who were very predictable, Liverpool were more random and spontaneous with players making runs from all over the place. Thus, it made Kompany and company (haha) think a lot when they defended.
Losing sucks and what Rodgers does NOT want is Liverpool being happy being the great performing losers. Liverpool have a real chance of winning this league and they must realize that and take that. They need to really BELIEVE they can do it by being more ruthless and professional. GOALS WIN MATCHES, AND NOT CHANCES. Rodgers will hope that with the return of Sturridge and a TOUGH midfielder, there is no reason Liverpool can outlast their rivals and perform the miracle of winning the league by playing the Rodger's brand of football.
