Manchester City who came in Second, Are to be AVOIDED after Bayern Sucker Punch
They somehow did it. I never gave them a chance, and after about ten minutes I was ready to switch it off as I expected a bloodbath. In some weird turn of events, City got themselves back in the game and ended up winning the match. After having a pretty crap game, as it always seems to turn out, Milner won the penalty AND scored the goal, although I would give Man of the Match to either Silva or Ribery. The real MAN of the match though was not playing. He was the one who changed things up and finally got City into the next round. Pellegrini will know they have a tricky task playing group winners, but City might just be a tasty threat.
Manchester City needed this victory. Forget about them needing another goal to top the group, that doesn't mean shit to me. All that matters is they BEAT Bayern and were the first team to do so in quite a long time. That is a mental boost and must feel them with the confidence in knowing they can take on Barcelona, PSG, Madrid, Dortmund and so forth. Where Mancini completely and utterly failed is where Pellegrini succeeded. He managed to ACTUALLY do some coaching and managing. He was finally able to bring in a counter attacking element to City with the key piece being Jesus Navas. With that dude on the pitch with his speed and EXCELLENT crossing, City have a very powerful weapon that can hurt A LOT of teams. You mix in Aguero, Negredo and Silva with Toure to return and hopefully Kompany at the back, then this is a team to be feared by ANY group winner. Who would really want to play a team that beat Bayern in their own house?
Every team needs their STAR and GO TO man. As long as Aguero is on that pitch, he can score against ANYBODY. Kun does not care who he plays against and has no fear whatsoever. If he can be partnered up with the very, very bullish and impressive Negredo, then City may argue that they have two KILLERS as their strikeforce. That is why teams must be mindful and very weary of the threat that City can pose.
I just do not see any group winners that City should be afraid of. FACT, if they play their game and Pellegrini and alter things properly using his deep squad, then they can topple down any team and go all the way.
