Roma Maintain their Pursuit of Juventus with Close Win over Fiorentina!!!

It looked like if this was going to be another draw with Juventus slowly pulling away, but Roma rose up and answered the call. Lead by Serie A's most dangerous player, the dreadlocked Ivorian, Roma just about edged past Fiorentina with a passionate defensive display that would bring tears of joy to Baresi. Roma are BACK and seem ready to do battle for the Scudetto with Juventus.

Rudi Garcia had to bring out all the guns, knives and even nuclear weapons for this. Another draw would have pretty much locked Roma into a fix psychologically. Thankfully, they started very well and it was that man Gervinho who used his great skill and balance to get past the defender and provide for Maicon who kept his head to slot home.
What surprised me and Garcia was how adventurous Fiorentina were. Even after going down a goal, they kept on going and after Roma allowed their wing to be exposed, it was left to Vargas to perform rifle into the empty net. It was now a game and Fiorentina started to rise and control the midfield, and kept getting Vargas and Cuadrado free on those wings.

Roma then started that second half much better and really showed why they will be a threat to Juventus. There were more options, more creativity and the intensity and will to get the second goal was ramped up. Fiorentina just found it hard to respond and get themselves back in that game. Then it fell to Gervinho to again provide the assist from the wing and Destro to get the winning goal. Speaking of that, can we all agree that the rule to get BOOKED for taking off your shirt during the elation of scoring a crucial goal is well and truly stupid? Again, another brilliant rule thought up by FIFA.

I can't finish this article without mentioning the incredible defence of Roma's. These boys well and truly held their own, and when Pjanic got sent off and Fiorentina had more space to get that equalizer, Roma CONTINUED TO SAY THAT THOU SHALT NOT PASS!
Rossi had that GOLDEN chance in injury time and it was Castan's pinpoint sliding block that denied him. Just seeing his reaction after that just showed you the kind of resolve and heart that Roma put into their defence that is one of the main reasons they have been doing so well this season.

My money is still on Juventus, because squads win titles and all that malarkey. Roma are making it interesting though, and if they can keep on winning and getting results, then that match against Juventus should be a VERY tasty confrontation. As for Gervinho, Wenger must be scratching his head and scrambling the internet to find out what drugs he's been taking.
