Sherwood Handed 18-Month Contract...but is that a Right Move by Levy?

Well, for me, he is ALREADY better than Villas-Boas and has Spurs actually looking exciting. I was one who wanted Sherwood to AT least be given till the end of the season based on how he quickly got rid of the Andre era. But, EIGHTEEN MONTHS?!!! For an unproven manager?! That really seems like taking it a bit too far, and I doubt if he will see out all of those months.

Levy is desperate to get Spurs going. He CAN'T afford for all that money to have been for nothing. To see Spurs finish out of the top four and dwindle in the abyss of seventh or sixth won't sit well with the fans. So it's obvious he would try and get a damn good coach, and names like Laudrup and Hoddle (from the dark days) sounded like good replacements. Honestly, I thought he would have gone for a known name and not an unproven specimen.
Let's look at the other side of the coin. Bringing in a new manager with the season already coming up to halfway may prove problematic. Will this new coach really be able to change the team around in time for them to work well under him? How many seasons will the coach needs to get Spurs working and ticking well?
Sherwood is within Tottenham, he KNOWS the players that have been there and has shown that he can get the best out of them with what he's done with Adebayor. There is a positive in promoting someone from within, who can take it back to basics and just get Tottenham playing football again. Also, being a former player always helps and is something Sherwood has over Villas-Boas.

Sherwood has now been given his chance, and he has the players for Tottenham to make things interesting in this mad Premiership race.
With Paulinho, Eriksen and even Lamela, Sherwood can forge a pretty formidable team and he may even have to dip into the market in January to strengthen the defence.
Whether he will actually see out the whole of the contract is something I do not believe will happen. Too much money is involved for Sherwood to be given time to try and build the team up. But, if Sherwood somehow manages to make Tottenham climb up that table...and maybe even win themselves a trophy, then Levy would have to hold his hands up and accept Sherwood is the man for Spurs.
