Yet another keeper of German blood is grabbing the headlines....which should make KAAAAAHHHHHN proud. With Neuer being the undisputed best keeper in the world, the young rising star with the big gloves is the Stegen kid. After performing well for Moenchengladbach and putting his name out there, he has opted AGAINST signing a new contract and will most likely join Barcelona.
This is a move that he MUST make. Without a doubt. No offence to the Borrussia boys, but they WON'T be in the Champions League anytime soon. Yes, they may be doing well now, but I doubt they will be in the top four come the end of the season.Any young player looking to test himself, will want to do so against the best of the best. Joining Barcelona means CONSISTENTLY playing in the big matches in the Champions League and pitting himself against the best strikers and midfielders in the world. THAT is the only way to get better and improve as a keeper. The La Liga will be a SLIGHT step up in quality from the Bundesliga, but it will really be how he performs in the Champions League.
Oh, and don't even talk about Valdes. To even have the audacity to compare Stegen to Valdes is insulting. Valdes is NOT a good goalkeeper at all, and once he moves to a club that don't keep the ball as well as Barcelona, then all will see what an ordinary goalkeeper he really is. Martino is wise to dump him and replace him with what could turn out to be one of the best keepers in the world in the next five or six years. GUY IS ONLY TWENTY ONE!
