Germany vs Ghana Post Match - The Germans still NEED to get Klose, if they are to WIN the Cup

The new German era. A new system with youthful legs that other teams wouldn't know how to defend against. It worked against a crap Portugal team. But when Low faced a proper and organised team WITH all eleven men on the pitch, it was a whole other ball game. Ghana were looking to head for win, and then Low realised he needed to a little KLOSE to the Ghanians.

Without a clearly defined striker, apart from Goetze with the goal and Mueller almost getting in good positions to score, it wasn't working like it used to. Ghana were swatting the attacks away and were not getting sliced like butter and pie in the same way Portugal. So 2-1 down and the crowd behind Ghana, it was time for the kids and foetuses to go back to their play-pens and allow that old warhorse to show them how it's done.

Yes, it WAS Klose's first touch and it was all about a striker's instinct and know-how. Miroslav was at the right place and at the right time to put the ball in the net and equal Ronaldo's record. Klose is hungry. He WANTS that record, and he WANTS this trophy. Low must make space for him, perhaps sacrificing Ozil for other players who have looked better.

Germany are not Spain or Barcelona. It's just not in their DNA. That equaliser from Klose should have been proof that the Germans need someone who sleeps in the penalty box, and can feed off the interplay between Goetze, Kroos and Mueller. Because as we reach the quarters and semis, that is where the older guys and the more old-skool tactics are more effective. Tighter matches, more strategic and tactical and a place where Klose can again be a hero and get his head, foot or eye on the end of a Mueller cross.

He WANTS that record.
