The Kids Deliver for Holland to top Group in 2-0 Win over Chile

Robben is the main man. One of the best footballers in the world, and the ONE man that CAN take Holland to the Promised Land(like that rhyming?). But no team can actually go all the way literally armed with one person. This is a team sport, and the conveyor belt Dutch youth system have turned up some young stars.

Chile did not make it easy for Holland. But, it wasn't the freeflowing Chile we saw four years ago or against Australia. They did make it difficult for the Dutch and it was a very difficult tight game. It was all about who was going to take their chance and deliver. Mostly it's been Robben who comes to score, especially with Van Persie on the bench. But no cigar....the kids were ready to graduate.

A deep cross and a perfectly placed header from a kid called Fer that put Holland in the lead. Then Chile had to attack, and that's where Robben can arise. Holland countered, Robben ran like the wind and never looked back, put the ball across and there was Depay to finish. Two to zippo, match over, nine points.

Depay has been one of the most impressive young players at the cup. I think Van Gaal must start him in the hole or even to replace Sneijder who has been ineffective in all three games. There is a team that is forming, old and new and a winning synergy. It's a long way to go with far sterner tests ahead, but the youngsters may need to grow bigger balls and deliver when Robben and Van Persie fail to do so....might come to that.
