So they got him. They have him and he has already scored a pretty good goal. This is what Mourinho CRAVED for. His Milito. His Drogba. His Cristina. But with Drogba injured and Blondie showing no signs of psychological recovery, it is all down to...Diego Costa.
He was the hitman last season for Atletico. A PROPER striker who sleeps in the box. He is the kind of player perfectly suited to Chelsea. But, this is now the big dog time. Pressure is on. Anything he did for Atletico was just an added bonus, nobody expected jack and jill from them. Costa is now in a big club where he is expected to finish top scorer.
Shit just got real.
You could say it's a similar position to when Drogba first came. In fact, Costa scored MORE goals than Drogba did for Marseille that season and in a much harder league. But what about the two strikers? Drogba's potential made him end up as one of THE clutch-strikers in history. His goals came from everywhere and he was pretty unplayable when he was rolling. But maybe Costa can do something different?
I saw him play against Milan in the Champions League. The goal he scored was not flashy or amazing, but I LOVED it. The goal was a striker's goal. Anticipation, movement, and awareness. Oh, and putting the ball in the net which always helps.
Best case scenario is what I am going off on. If Costa misses four or five games from injury in the season, can he do what Drogba did? That depends a lot on the players around him. If Fabregas can bring his assisting A-game, then Mourinho MAY just get his paws on HIS trophy.
