Real Madrid vs Sevilla Super Cup Preview

What the hell kind of match is this? Sevilla?! I don't want to be rude or be insulting, but SEVILLA?! I can understand Atletico and Inter Milan, but this is really a lopsided match. And didn't it take Sevilla penalties to beat Benfica? Whereas Madrid took the knife and constantly RAMMED it in and out of Atletico's back. Oh, and the guy that really put the dagger in, was Bale...helped by the underrated Di Maria. The Welshman is back in his hometown, and should, we hope, carry on where he left off last season.

A win is a win. Sevilla are the UEFA Cup champions and just looking at the trophy, it actually looks sexier than the Champions League one.

They won the semi in very dramatic circumstances with a late away goal in a pretty crazy match. Benfica SHOULD have beaten them, being second-time finalists in two years, but they choked. So Sevilla, under Emery, know how to win a match. They know they are the underdogs, and as sport has shown for so many times....always FEAR the underdog.

For Real, it is a chance to see how well the new boys can come and play. Kroos is the REALLY important purchase they made, but all eyes will be on James Rodriguez. This is the marquee signing, the one that everyone believes will be the next big thing in the world.

I'm not convinced. But if there was a moment to shut up critics like myself, assisting and scoring a goal against Sevilla to add another trophy in the Madrid cabinet would be a perfecto start. But the real question though is can he cope with the pressure? Robinho, Robben, Kaka, Cannavaro are all high-profile failures at Real. I don't know what the answer is, and hoping that injury does not take him down...we will find out by this time next year.

This is Madrid's to take. An opportunity to tune themselves up before the season, as they do battle with arch-rivals Barcelona who have a vampire in their ranks, and the violated Atletico who want to at least put up a respectable defense. Sevilla just don't have enough in their team to win. BUT, if things don't work out for Real, they don't function well...and my good friend Casillas is in goal with Pepe smirking just ahead of him...then anything is possible.
