Milan losing to BOTH Udinese and Genoa keeping them in tenth is funny, is infuriating and sad. All the emotions make sense. Because maybe Galliani and chums thought they could keep on dragging one of football's great clubs through the gutter without anyone taking much notice. I think he underestimated the emotions of Milan fans as well as those fond of the club like myself who remember when the San Siro was like Mordor; a feared venue for any team to visit. Now....it's a training ground for Genoa to dismantle AC Milan.
So is this really down to money? Unfortunately, it is. That is the reality we of the football world we live in. To build a team to be competitive you need an expensive force. But, it isn't only money, as I will get to that later (damn right, I am going IN)
Don't be fooled, Berlusconi has money. You would need to be a complete airheaded nimcompoop fool to think he is cash-strapped. How he has attained his wealth is not for me to comment on; but let's put to bed whether or not he has money. Now, if you are the owner of a team and you claim to love it, you put your money where your mouth is. If it takes X amount for a player you need, then you cough up the cash, because if you say you say you love that club , you give it up.
To look at the group of players who were on that pitch last night, including Abate who had the armband, and not THINK for a second you need better players then you are one of two things. Either mentally lost, or you don't really care. Berlusconi and Galliani are not idiots. So it can only be one thing, which is they are still getting their money and living well, and Milan losing to Udinese and Genoa does not harm that....so there isn't anything to worry about for them.
Let's look beyond the cash, as I said I would come back to it. Correct me if I'm wrong but neither Sampdoria or Genoa, two teams ABOVE Milan are overflowing with cheddar or cash. Their teams are built upon players they have developed and shrewd purchases such as Eto'o in Sampdoria and Niang (who scored against Milan by the way) for Genoa. So why can't Milan, are far bigger club than both of those combined, develop players better than Abate? Are the coaches at the academy so garbage that they are unable to do something like this?
This leads to the freakin dragon with flames and huge nostrils in the room. Inzaghi is a far inferior coach to those in charge of Sampdoria and Genoa, and even MOST of the other coaches in Serie A. Most who has had the record he has had this season would have been gone a lot earlier. Everyone knows its not working, but Galliani does not want all that egg on his armani suit and drooping face. He does not want to admit Inzaghi is a downgrade from Seedorf. He does not want to face the fact that Inzaghi is unable to control the wildcard that is Menez, and form a proper team.
So what is next? There needs to be a solution. Nobody likes a takeover as it is better to do it organically, but it NEEDS to happen. There's a time where you need to face reality and just get it done. Milan needs to be totally restructured from the ground up and a new lease of life must be ushered in. Because Weah, Shevchenko, Maldini, Nesta, Seedorf, Van Basten, Gattusso would be made to look like a bunch of losers having built up this name to global recognition and have it all ruined and destroyed.
FIX IT!
