I did not see this coming. With so much focus being on Arsenal, City, United and Chelsea being the ones to try and make some big signings, seems that Leicester want to be in that mix. The very fact that Ranieri is going in with one of Italy's best strikers, shows that no matter what he says in public, he is really going for this title.
Sampdoria did really well last season and Eder was a big reason why that was the case. His goals and peformances put Sampdoria on the map and forced him into Conte's plans in the national team. Now, you can very much expect him to be starting Italy's first game at the Euros is he's fit. That shows the kind of season this guy had last year.
This season has been a downer. Losing their manager, losing games and doing so much worse off than last season. But despite that, in the matches that I have watched, Eder has kept his level up. He still looks good and has been doing the best he can with the limited help he's been given from his defense. Ranieri has seen this and would really be an amazing coup if he was able to get him.
I really like Eder as a player. He's got that Brazilian in him and you can tell. Without the speed of other strikers, hsi footballing brain is amazing. He's smart, knows how to find space and can work really well with a taller target-man striker. Also, when it comes to finishing, he knows how to do so very well. The kind of goals that he's scored are unconventional and smart, not just the standard tap-ins that a certain Portuguese individual who wears mascara likes to partake in.
I don't think this will happen. An Italian international going to Leicester City? Yeah, they may be top now, but they are not considered a "big" club, and I believe that Eder is far too good for them. But Sampdoria aren't doing too well right now and Leicester could be building something for the future. Even if they fail to win the title this season, I think they may just about hang on to the top four, and Champions League could be an offer to exciting to dismiss for Eder. So in a weird way, Ranieri could nab his fellow countryman and if they do, it would be one of the best signings of January.
