Martial has Great Idols in Ronaldo (The Legendary One) and Ronaldinho

Martial has had an amazing debut season for Man United. Anyone that says he's not their most important player is a psychopath. Without him, United would be around mid-table without even dreaming of making the top four. The speed with which he's picked up the faster game in England as opposed to France has been amazing, and you can only think of how much better he can become.

So traversing the net waves, it pleased me greatly when Martial said he looks at Ronaldo and Ronaldinho as idols. The two incredible talents that helped push Brazil to the victory back in 2002. For Martial to identify these two players as those he'd want to emulate shows where he wants to take his football.

Martial was never on my radar as being part of the next generation of players. My eyes have always been on Neyrmar and Pogba and now recently, Dybala. But with what I have seen of the Frenchman with his 90's haircut, I've got to put him in that category. To think of how good he is now, and his dribbling which keeps on improving, Pogba may have some competition in a few years for the title of being the best footballer in France.

But it's important that Martial studies what Ronaldo and Dinho were about. These were two highly technical players who didn't rely on brute strength or speed. They did incredible things with the ball and were able to create chances from the tightest of positions. Even surrounded by several players, they were able to squeeze their way through rather than just boot the ball up and hope and chase after it.

There have been some amazing players for United, who have done some amazing things. But there has never been someone who had that amazing technical ability, who could dribble and do amazing things on the ball. For all the goals that Cristiano scored, he was more a of a physical talent rather than having amazing dribbling. He tried with his stepovers, but Ferguson quickly took that away from him when it got ridiculous and never really worked. Perhaps where Cristiano failed, Martial can succeed.

If United can have a Ronaldo or Ronaldinho but coated in French sauce, the Premiership will become even more compeitive for the coming seasons.
