FA Cup is all Arsenal have left, but How Important is it?

If we're being realistic now, the FA Cup is probably Arsenal's best chance of getting their hands on any trophy this season. We all expect them to take their customary loss to Barcelona in Spain next week, and being eight points behind Leicester and having a downer in the Premiership doesn't bode well for their title hopes. So all that's left is a trophy they know very well and will be looking to defending. Because if they don't win this...then it will be cobwebs for this season.

Hull City got pretty lucky on one hand at the Emirates but they also defended really well, with their keeper pulling off the finger-tip save to stop the underappreciated (by Wenger anyway) Joel Campbell. Arsenal huffed and they puffed, but Hull stood firm and here we are tonight in the second leg where the Gunners now have to travel away and get the job done.

The Arsenal faithful have to ask themselves the question though, whether or not they are happy with just winning the FA Cup. Is all that matters that they get a trophy and that's fine? Just as long as Wenger brings back something, even if it's something you're used to and is not as valuable as that other thing which you crave, would that be enough to forget all the bad-blood and allow him to continue on?

In my view, Arsenal have to move past this mentality of the FA Cup. I mean, a trophy is a trophy and it's a more valuable trophy than the league cup, but it's not the Premiership. Ask any club in any country which they would rather win, either their domestic cup or their league, they would tell you straight away that it's that league. I'm sure Real would trade all their measly Copa Del Reys for more La Liga titles.

But I don't really feel that sentiment. A feeliing I'm getting is accepting they are out of the league with some faint hope that Leicester will slip up, already expecting to just go through the emotions in the Nou Camp and then focusing on winning the FA Cup and calling the season somewhat of a success because they have brought home something. Those are the vibes I'm getting, and if those vibes are true, then that's not the mentality of the Arsenal I knew when Vieira, Adams and Henry were about. HH
