The Mario Gotze Saga Continues...

Gotze needs to be very careful. He is in danger in turning into one of the great unfortunate players. Someone with so much amazing potential never fulfilling it, probably by some fault of his own.

So Gotze is at the crossroads again. He can either stay with Bayern under the new leadership of Ancelotti, taking his chances that he believes in his ability or he can reunite with his good friend Klopp and take up a new challenge in Liverpool.

I have said for a long time that Gotze is too good for Liverpool. He's one of Germany's best young players and someone with incredible technique and playmaking ability. This is a world class player who deserves to be a starter for Bayern. Going to Liverpool would be a huge step down for him.

Or so I thought.

In football, you need to put your ego in check. In an ideal world, every player who has the ability, would always start in the best teams. That is just not how it works in reality. It's about how well you fit in the team and also being able to reach your potential on a consistent basis. That is unfortunately something that is gone against Gotze on both accounts.

When you bring the Liverpool argument into play, then it seems more enticing. He would not only get more playing time, as well as work with a manager who knows him an nurtured his talent, but Liverpool and the way that they are being developed would actually fit Gotze's play perfectly. At the end of the day, it's about having playing time, enjoying your football and reaching your potential.

Liverpool are not exactly Tamworth.

For now, it's about Gotze knowing where he stands with Ancelotti. He must know whether he is part of Carlo's plans or not. A definitive answer is given, because Gotze could work well in a Bayern team that won't play in the same way as Pep's. That is for sure, Gotze won't be playing in the same kind of role or under the same instructions that Pep gave the players. So maybe this change in direction will suit him.

The right decision must be made because Mario my boy, you're not getting any younger. HH
