The Wild Card of Rashford MUST PLAY for England at the Euros
From Owen to Rooney and now Marcus Jeremiah Rashford. The next in line for England and their unknown youthful players given their chance in a big tournament. This is assuming that Hodgson (who should be sacked) actually plays Rashford and didn't just include him for laughs.
I don't see Rashford as a technically gifted player or someone who I think can be a world class superstar soon. This isn't like Ronaldo at PSV or when the long haired Messi was parading about in Barcelona, being good enough to play with the big boys. What Rashford represents is an amazing story of a very young dude who has made a huge impact.
Can we give Van Gaal some love for trusting him? Maybe?
To score such important goals in huge matches, and show no fear when playing and look substantially better than the overrated Rooney, has to be commended. The amount of times I would look online and see that this young boy scored again for United was amazing. That right there is the sign of a serious player. To be able to score and make an impact despite his young years.
Hodgson had to take him, but he also has play him. I understand that England have four really good strikers who have had great seasons. But the beauty of taking all four is you can change it up and it also breeds competition. If Kane isn't being effective and getting marked out of the game, you can bring in Vardy and if that doesn't work then Rashford must be introduced.
What Rashford has that the others do not is that freedom of youth. He has no pressure on his shoulders, nothing is or should be expected from him on such a big stage and therefore he can go out there and ball. And watching him and just seeing how he carries himself, I don't think he's someone that comes across as being afraid or scared. Playing at the Euros won't be daunting for him and if the fans don't put any weight on his shoulders, he can do wonders for England. HH
